Multiplication Magic

  Multiplication Magic
We are learning to use place value to solve multiplication problems using whole numbers.

Times table practice:
5 x 5 =  25                       7x7= 49
4 x 4=  16                         8 x 8= 64
3 x 3 =   9                       11x 11= 1221
6 x 6=    36                         5 x 4= 20
9 x 9 =     81                     10 x 10= 100

Factors of 16 = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16
,
Multiples of 8 = 8,16,24,32,40,48,56,64,72,80

A prime number is  = 1,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,21

25 x 25 = 625
20 x 25 = 500
5 x 25 =  125

25 x 245 =  6150
200 x 25 =   5000
40 x 25 = 1000
5 x 25 = 125

267 x 250 = 66750
200 x 267 =  53400
50 x 267 = 13350

Show your working under each problem:

1.  Mrs Flavelle orders 15 boxes of cookies for camp. If each box contains 18 cookies. How many are
there altogether?  15x10= 1500 8x 15= 120 1500+120= 1620

2. Mrs Tele’a orders 12 cans of beans for camp. Each tin contains 240 beans. How many individual
beans has she ordered? 12x 200= 24000 12x40= 480    24480

3. Room 4 is baking a rectangular cake for the garage sale. It is 22cm long and 16cm wide. What
is the area of the cake?  352cm

4. Marika has brought some lollies in to share with the class for her birthday. She has brought
14 packets which contain 32 lollies each. How many lollies are there altogether? 14x16 = 224
  224x 2 = 448 16x2 = 32

5. If each of the 160 students in team five paid 135 dollars for camp, how much money would
the camp make from our visit? 21600 because 160x 100= 16000  160x35= 10000

Serious Subtraction 2

  Serious Subtraction
We are learning to solve subtraction problems using whole and decimal numbers.

Times Table Practice:

3 x 3 =   9 5 x 5 =  25 8 x 7 = 56     12 x 10 = 120 4 x 6 = 24   5 x 7 = 35 2 x 4 = 8 3 x 8 = 24
9 x 8 = 72 4 x 7 = 28 9 x 7 = 63

Your sister gives you $125 to spend on lollies. If you spend $65 how much money would you have
left over?
$60  65+ 60= 125

Zaeeda has bought her sister  a new puppy. She has $500 in her bank account as she heads to the

Then she buys 3 chew toys. Each toy costs $3.50. How much does she have left?
$405. $50c $3x $3.50c= $10.50c $415- $10.50c = $405.50c

Finally she buys a diamond collar for the dog which costs $154.50. How much is left in her account at
the end of the day?  $296 405.50c - $154.50c= $296

Zyla’s puppy is growing every month. He used to weigh 5.67 kg but he now weighs 6.34kg. How
much weight has he put on?  6.7 grams
